Sharpening is performed by using the Sharpening command from the Mathematics Menu or by using the button
This operation emphasizes differences between adjacent pixels’ hues and distinguishes barely visible details. During processing of every pixel of the image, the sharpness core – a 3×3 matrix – is used. The central coefficient in the sharpness matrix is more than 1, while others are negative. Thus, the existing contrast between the pixel’s color and the colors of its neighbors increases. The final image looks sharper than the original. This function uses the following matrix:
